Therapy Ranch
Practice Overview
At Therapy Ranch we provide a mental health intervention of equine-assisted psychotherapy.
Therapy Ranch Mission Statement
Empowering people of all ages to discover hope and resilience on their path to mental well-being by harnessing the healing power of horses.
Therapy Ranch, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2019. At Therapy Ranch, we believe in the powerful, healing connection between humans and horses. This connection can be deeply therapeutic and serves as a unique complement to traditional mental health counseling. We are located in Ortonville, MI, in northern Oakland Co. https://www.therapyranch.org
Our primary service is Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP)—a ground-based, experiential approach where clients connect with horses through observation, movement, and interaction. There is no riding involved.
We are certified through EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association) https://www.eagala.org, and every session includes a mental health professional, an equine specialist, the client(s), and of course, the horse(s). Sessions run for 50 minutes and can be structured individually, in small age- or goal-based groups, or as family sessions.
Our philosophy is to provide trauma-informed care and maintain client and staff emotional and physical safety at all times.
