About Me
Many young girls struggle quietly with neurodivergence and mental health issues that may go undetected. This is also true for boys and gender fluid young ones. In my own life, I have found immense freedom and growth from therapy and other wellness practices like mindfulness, yoga, and social justice, and I am eager to share what I’ve learned with my clients. I work with people of all ages and life experiences on anxiety, depression, trauma, and neurodivergences like autism, ADHD, and OCD. Developing a trusting and caring relationship with a therapist can make a very positive impact on our mental, emotional, and physical health. It is also important to incorporate the familial, cultural, and institutional factors that influence our lives into therapy. I prioritize being anti-racist in my work by bringing awareness to the intersectionality of our many identities as humans. Do you ever feel like sometimes you are talking or thinking yourself in circles? That’s why I decided to study Somatic Therapy in graduate school. This process involves deep inner listening, developing a connection to your body and emotions, and engaging in Parts Work, which acknowledges the existence of our inner-child and the many different beliefs and desires inside of us that can all exist simultaneously. I also hold a certificate as a Mindfulness Meditation Teacher. I gratefully acknowledge that Somatics and Mindfulness practices find their roots in Asian and Indigenous cultures.
As a neurodivergent person myself, I am good at conceptualizing how clients' problems fit into their bigger picture. I work with children and adults on anxiety, depression, trauma, and coping with
Background & qualifications
I was trained in a 3 year program in person-centered and somatic therapy, which means that I believe that every person naturally wants to heal and has the capability to do so. My job as the therapist is to help you work through the obstacles that are in your way. In person-centered therapy we believe that having a supportive relationship is the key to giving someone a positive and safe environment in which, together, we can figure out next steps. My schooling focused on somatics, or the mind-body connection, and I also hold a certification as a mindfulness meditation teacher. I am proud of my myriad life experiences that have brought me in contact with people of all backgrounds: religions, languages, ability-levels, class backgrounds, races, ethnicities, sexualities, genders, and more. I come to the therapy profession after much soul-searching, ready to share my unique insights and my gifts of compassionate listening and presence.
